Meet the Youngest Members of Our Family
A family is a loving, multi-generational, blended unit. Ours certainly is, which is why the Evalyn Sadlier Jones child care and learning facilities on our campus for infants and toddlers to age five are such an important part of who we are and have been for more than 20 years.
Here, children learn in a safe, nurturing, educational environment. Rooms are filled with pictures, music, and playthings to stimulate young minds and imaginations. And an added benefit of our child care and learning center is the interaction between the children and Pines’ residents that enriches their lives through storytelling, arts and crafts, and entertainment. It’s a truly meaningful way to increase intergenerational understanding, appreciation and sensitivity.
Among the center-based learning classes kids enjoy a math and manipulative center for developing math and problem-solving skills; a literary center, where they are read to and do alphabet and phonological awareness to help them develop the skills they’ll need to read; and a block center for building shape recognition and teaching problem-solving. Staff at The Learning Center hold degrees and/or credentials in Early Childhood Education and are trained to give special attention to each child's individual needs.
Starting at 6:30 AM every morning the children of our community, as well as the children of Pines of Sarasota’s own staff, begin arriving. The children enjoy free play until 8:00 AM when we then provide a hot, nutritious breakfast and the children then begin their day of fun and learning. At lunch, another hot meal is served. The children then have a chance to nap peacefully while classical music plays in the background.
There’s plenty of time to be kids at our child care and learning center because our teachers know the importance of helping a child develop as a whole person, physically, mentally, and emotionally at their own pace.
Eligibility and Application
Every member of the community and staff is eligible to apply and applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
