CEO Letter

Dear Friends,

Pines of Sarasota is known for our excellence in compassionate care for seniors. And I am excited to tell you about the transformation of our campus, happening right now, to provide an even better place for seniors to thrive.

For the past 72 years, Pines of Sarasota has led the way in senior care, as the region’s premier not-for-profit provider of short-term and outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing and memory care, assisted living, and falls prevention. Our on-site child care and learning center provides intergenerational programs that lift up both our kids and the seniors in our care. Our educational programs benefit both caregivers and those being cared for – and the community at large as well as our own programs.

Pines of Sarasota is built on a tradition of service to seniors and to the community. And now, with a vision supported by our donors and our Board of Directors, we look to the future. A future built upon our mission to care for those who can no longer care for themselves, and one that ensures that our mission flourishes for many, many years to come.

The construction of our new nursing center is well on its way and we are due to open in the fall of 2021. This fully-funded building is replacing several older buildings so that we can provide the very best, state-of-the-art rooms, equipment, and comfort for our residents. Each room has a private bathroom and shower. Indoor and outdoor atrium areas are planned. Our new memory care area has been carefully designed to accommodate the needs of residents with dementia, and its atrium will be one of a kind, setting the bar at a new level for dementia care programming. Our inpatient and outpatient therapy gyms will be places where residents can achieve a level that ensures their very best quality of life. In fact, the entire building is designed to provide the best quality of life possible for both our short-term patients and long-term residents.

And that is what is so exciting. All of this work is being done so that we can continue to provide the very best in care – Pines of Sarasota compassionate care – to those who need it the most. We are committed to continuing our progressive leadership role to advance the standard of care for seniors, and we are grateful for the support of our donors to allow us to do so.

I invite you to choose the Pines of Sarasota for the most advanced care available for you or your loved one. I am honored and grateful to lead this team of highly-skilled health care professionals into our bright future so that we continue to meet the ever-growing rehabilitation and senior care needs of our community.

Sincerely yours,

Mike Ward
