Sarasota, FL: National Grandparents Day is Sunday, September 11, but Pines of Sarasota Rehabilitation and Senior Care Community is celebrating a little early on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 10am in Cullers Hall. “We are throwing our festivities a little early because our day care kids want to celebrate not only with their natural grandparents, but also with their surrogate grandparents,” explains Sandy de Laferna, Director of Activities for Pines of Sarasota.
“The students from the Pines of Sarasota Childcare and Learning Centers on-site day care will sing and pass out greeting cards to Pines of Sarasota residents. Many of our residents’ grandchildren don’t live nearby and the interaction with the children who attend our day care classes brings them great joy,” de Laferna continues.
“People are often surprised to hear that our senior care campus has two children’s child care and learning centers on site, but it makes perfect sense. Not only are these learning centers convenient for our employees and the community, but the intergenerational activities that we coordinate between our kids and our seniors are invaluable to the enrichment of both groups,” states Connie Snyder, Director of Child Care.
