Mini Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Let us count the reasons we’re thankful for our residents… I think we’re going to be here a while! They have so many interesting stories about their glory days gone by. Our residents fill our days with reminiscing and feelings of nostalgia, while we just sit and listen to their wisdom-filled memories.

Thanksgiving seems to be the favored holiday for our residents. Many of them expressed that Christmas has changed so much since they were young. It’s been commercialized. Everyone wants the bigger and the better – but not Thanksgiving. It remains about gathering with family, telling old stories, and acknowledging how blessed we truly are.

When planning activities for our residents, Holly, Nannette, & their awesome team work very hard to create events that will resonate with our residents – events that will bring those feelings of home and joy. This year marks the 95^th year the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will march through the streets of Manhattan. For some of our residents, the parade reminds them of their childhood. More so, a few of our residents witnessed the parade as an annual family tradition.

This year, Holly has put together our very own Mini Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! Dedicated staff from our various departments made floats to resemble those that fly high above the streets of New York City. Our staff marched, waved, & laughed their way through the halls bringing joy and a bit of Thanksgiving cheer to our wonderful residents.
